ICT refers to Information and communication technology. Information is the set of data which is meaningful, communication is the process of transferring any information. Technology is the branch of science specially for the application use  which is used for practical purpose.

ICT includes all the technical aspects for processing and communicating information. ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunication. ICT uses various digital technologies, to process raw data into output format.

A technology which collects, stores and process data and information and communicate all over the world through computer is known as ICT. It include all terms used to handle data , information and help communication, including computer device and communication software. Information system plays a very important in every modern aspects. Modern information and communication technologies have created a "global village" in which people can communicate.

Education Sector
Field of education sector or the areas of education such as teaching, learning and research have been affected by ICT. ICT is used as teaching tool in practical class of school , college and universities

ICT is used in education sector for following purpose
  1. it improve the quality of teaching and learning
  2. it make teaching learning more interesting through image , sound and animations
  3. it create interactive classes and make the lesson more enjoyable
  4. it increase the access of education and improve student attendance and concentration
  5. it make education practice like online study, distance learning etc.

Business  sector
ICT is a key input to productivity and growth performance of business. ICT includes different parts of business such as administration, production, security, marketing, research and communication
ICT is used in business sector for following purpose
  1. to get quick access to business information
  2. used to save time and reduce risk of errors
  3. used to provide better customer service
  4. used to give new forms of advertising 
  5. used to collect information of competitor's price more easily
online shopping, online book store, online gift centers etc. are the facilities provided to the customers through ICT

Health sectors
ICT paly vital role in medicine and health sector for following objective
  1. used in research and development
  2. used to keep record of appointment and patient details
  3. used to analyze patient information such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration and blood glucose levels etc
  4. used to make patients aware of their next coming appointment via email
computer controlled device like CT-Scan, MRI scan machine, ultrasound machine are used in health sector.

In bank ICT helps to operate day to day activities more efficiently and effectively
ICT is used n banking sector for following objectives:
  1. used to keep information of customer's transaction and creating balance sheet 
  2. used to provide telephone and online banking service
  3. used to read and verify the cheque of customers
  4. used to provide electronic banking service through ATM and E-banking
  5. used to monitor the entire banking activities

ICT are used in communication sectors like television, radio, FM stations, telecom etc.

Data and information can be accessed globally through modern communication technology. Without ICT the modern communication would be very difficult

Computer Ethics
Ethics are the sets of rule that people or group of people need to follow.
It is similar to moral but there is different if you go in deep,
Computer information system are the heart of daily activities. Most people are using computer for good purpose and few of them are using for bad purposes. Few users are using computer for stealing data and information , destroying information , data and other illegal activities.
To maintain peace and security every user should follow the computer ethics

computer ethics refer to a kind of international law that gives awareness to the computer user regarding immoral behavior and activities in the field of computing.
computer ethics deals with using of computer systematically for good objectives. It is also defined as to follow rules and regulations of computer technology.

Computer Ethics is a set of moral principles that handle the use of computer systematically without making harm to other computer user.

It gives awareness to the computer user not to use computer for stealing , destroying data.
Few commandments for computer ethics are as follows:
  • we should not use computer to harm other
  • we should not use computer to publish fake information
  • we should destroy or delete record of other people
  • we should not interfere with other people's computer work
  • we should not snoop around in other people's files
  • we should not use or copy software for which for paid for
  • we should not use other people's computer without permission
  • we should always use a computer in ways that show consideration  and respect
Cyber Law
The law that's controls the legal issues in internet for digital data processing and transaction is called cyber. The main purpose of formulating cyber law is to legalize the transaction through electronic media.

Cyber law helps in decreasing the cyber crime.
Cyber law in Nepal was passed on 30th Bhardra 2061BS(15 Sep 2004)
